FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, BIG SPRING

CORRECTION: In last week’s news we reported that   Rowan Colette presented his Senior Recital on oboe and piano in the Chapel. It was the Senior Recital of RANSOM Colette, who is Valedictorian of 2021 at Big Spring High and member of FPC Choir. Apologies!

SUNDAY

Worship services begin at 10:50 a.m. in the Sanctuary at 8th and Runnels. Lectionary passages for the Pentecost Sunday are: Psalm 104: 24-34; Acts 1:1-21; Romans 8:22-27 John 17:6-19.  Rev. Allen Cross will lead the worship service. The sermon topic is “A Dream as Big as All Creation.” Organist/music director Gabe Martinez leads the music on the organ and piano and provides the Introit and Offertory The high school graduates of FPC: Mia Burch and Destiny Hallford -Forsan and Ransom Colette – Big Spring will be recognized during worship. Immediately after worship will be a Fellowship Lunch on the courtyard. Please bring lawn chairs.

Sunday School begins at 9:45. Rev. Cross is teaching the Children’s Class. Tom Koger leads the Youth Class, which meets in the Tent Room. The Discovery Class is pursuing a DVD study Be Like Jesus authored by Randy Frazee, formerly partner senior minister with Max Lucado in San Antonio – now in Kansas City. Rip Patterson will lead the class for the next two weeks.

 Sunday morning Take Ten fellowship is in the parlor between Sunday School and worship. John Yater is host for this week.

TUESDAY

The History Lectures, moderated by Nancy Michaelis, are resuming in FPC Theater Room, Noon-1:00 p.m.

WEDNESDAY

Women’s Bible Study, meets in the Theater Room at 10:00 a.m.

Lectionary Bible Study meets in the Library at 5:00 p.m.

THURSDAY

Everyone is invited to join the Lunch Bunch at 11:30 a.m.

Service Committee meets at 5:30 p.m. in the Library.

 The Session meets May 27 at 6:00 p.m. in the Library
