Pastor’s Perspective

April 3rd brings us near the end of Lent with the story of Jesus at the home of Mary and Martha and Lazarus. It’s close to the beginning of Passover. It is also near the end of His ministry and the beginning of the days leading to His passion.

God is about to do a completely new thing this month, an unexpected thing on Easter Sunday. In the days leading to Easter, pay close attention to the sights and sounds and, the smells. This is not just some abstract or theological study, but an intensely human episode. And it’s not just about Easter traditions at home either. It’s not just about gathering around the table with family wearing pastel colors and slicing into that Honey Baked Ham. It’s about personal transformation.

Are you ready for the personal challenge of opening yourself to the events of this month or is there some fear that shuts down your ability to let God do something new in your life? Maybe you are even destined to be someone through whom God intends to do something unexpected for someone you don’t even know. That’s what happens to Jesus’ disciples.

Oh, wait! We’re disciples of Jesus too!

Godspeed,

Allen
