For Sunday, September 12, 2021 of FPC Big Spring 

Because of the resurgence of virus cases, the Session voted to recommend or encourage congregation members to wear masks to worship and practice social distancing.

Worship services begin at 10:50 a.m. in the Sanctuary at 8th and Runnels. Lectionary passages for the Sixteenth Sunday after Pentecost are: Isaiah 50:4-9; Psalm 116:1-9; Mark 8:31-39.  Rev. Allen Cross will lead the worship service. The sermon topic is “Let Us Stand Up Together” Organist/music director Gabe Martinez provides music for the service.

Sunday School begins at 9:45. Rev. Cross is teaching the Children’s Class. Tom Koger leads the Youth Class. The Discovery Class resumes the study, Think Like Jesus, authored by Randy Frazee, this Sunday. Vicki Miller and Helen Glass are leading the study, which will continue through mid-September.

 Sunday morning Take Ten fellowship is in the parlor between Sunday School and worship. Ellen Austin is host for this week.

TUESDAY

September 7: Communications Committee met at 2:30 in the church library.

Presbyterian Women begin their 2021-2022 Bible Study on Tuesday, September 28. This year’s study is What My Grandmothers Taught Me: Learning from the Women in Matthew’s Genealogy of Jesus. Study books may be picked up in the church office.

WEDNESDAY

Women’s Bible Study, a multi-denominational group, meets in the Library at 10:00 a.m.

The History Lectures, moderated by Nancy Michaelis, are continuing in FPC Theater Room, Noon-1:00 p.m.

THURSDAY

Everyone is invited to join the Lunch Bunch at 11:30 a.m.

Worship Committee meets at 3:00 p m in the church library.
