An extra large order of faith, please!

News:
Religion is whatever human beings make out of it. If the church does something wrong or unjust or manipulative we can't really blame that on God. We have to blame it on the people who make up the church as a religious institution. Religious people affirm certain principles taught by scripture and creeds and if those people act in ways different from the things they affirm, well that's an human rather than divine failure.
But no other institution or organization can be the deep source of meaning in life that religion can. Well, no other institution other than organized baseball. And the key aspect of religion that makes meaning in life possible is faith. That's faith as in confidence or reliance or trust. Too often faith is limited to the idea of obedience. Even when we face hardships in life, we too often think that's a test God poses to see if we'll remain faithful. The same test that Job experienced.
What's your faith look like? Do you have enough of it? Does it stick with you when times are tough? Is it connected to something larger than yourself? Does it help you look beyond the present moment?
Let's talk about that this Sunday.
