God’s economics

Vanity! All Vanity! So cried the writer of Ecclesiastes. The scriptures for this Sunday give us four lessons on placing our hope of life security on earthly things. From Psalm 49 to the first two chapters of Ecclesiastes to Jesus' lesson on the futility of bigger barns to the urging of the letter to the Colossians to put to death earthly things. It's all about the economics of God according to the culture of God's kingdom. Some read these scriptures as commentary on the futility of human toil. Some read them as an attack on the virtue of being a citizen entitled to enjoy luxuries earned. Surely, God has a particular message in mind that we should consider.

This Sunday is Noisy Offering so bring your loose change. It's also the fifth Sunday of the month and that means pot luck lunch after worship in the Fellowship Hall.

This is also the final Sunday to bring in school supplies. We're donating supplies to Howard County Resources. They already have school backpacks so let's help fill them up!
