11-30-2022 Acts 5:17-42
Wednesday, December 7 we will look at Acts Chapter 6. Following the study we will celebrate Thanksgiving/Christmas with a simple fellowship luncheon in the library. (Soup-Leslie and Jane, bread-Sue, dessert-Nancy Koger and Monika, with water and tea-Tammy and Donnita). I invited Kay Scott, our secretary of the church to join us.
Apostles as Models
Apostles are people who love and serve God faithfully
conduits of God’s salvation
respond to needs of others
proclaim gospel in spite of threats from religious leaders
resolve to remain obedient to God
vulnerable before those who have their own ideas about God’s will and have power to stop them
courage to persist because God instructs them
Characteristics of Early Christians ( Barclay)
They had courage.
They had principles.
obedience to God must come first.
“Is this what God would want me to do?”
They had a clear idea of their function
They were witnesses for Christ (they spoke of firsthand knowledge)
Gospel is true = Jesus is the Messiah, was crucified, died, was resurrected. The Gospel is unstoppable truth.
