New Adult Sunday School Study For Advent
Beginning November 29th, the Discovery Class will return to a Adam Hamilton study for Advent, entitled “Faithful: Christmas Through the Eyes of Joseph.” This study follows Joseph from humble carpenter through the nativity. The class will run through December 27th.
Time: Sundays at 9:45 am.
Vickie Miller is leading this study in the theater room.
Participants will explore the life of Joseph from his beginnings as a humble carpenter to his all-important role as God’s choice to be the earthly father of Jesus Christ. Joseph’s place in the Nativity story is sometimes overlooked but contains valuable lessons for all of us. His courageous actions were crucial to the birth of Christ and God’s salvation plan for humanity. In session 1 we will get to know Joseph as the carpenter. A focus of session 2 will be the ancestry of Joseph and Jesus, and what influence Jesus’ family tree had on his ministry. In session 3, Hamilton challenges his readers to be mindful of the needs of all God’s children. Session 4 provides the opportunity to learn about the journey of Joseph and his family to Bethlehem and to explore how God is present with us when we face journeys that are challenging or difficult. The fifth session explores the layers of significance in the story of the magi. We hope you will plan to join us in this special study for Advent beginning November 29th and continuing through December 27th.
