Wednesday Lectionary Bible Study will not meet this week. The Thursday Lunch Bunch will not meet on Thanksgiving Day. The Service Committee is asking for people to bring turkeys to the church kitchen for donations for Christmas. Presbyterian Women met last week to pack boxes of packaged treats to send to our college students and bags of goodies to take to homebound members, rather than the homemade cookies that have been sent in the past. PW will not have a December meeting. The Discovery Class begins a study by Adam Hamilton for the Advent season entitled Faithful Christmas through the Eyes of Joseph. This study follows Joseph from humble carpenter through the nativity and will conclude December 27. The Children’s Class begins an Advent study with a lesson on God’s Promise to Mary on November 29. Nancy Koger is teaching this class. The Sunday morning Take Ten fellowship in the parlor between Sunday School and worship has resumed. Paula Farquhar is host for this week.
Lectionary passages for the First Sunday in Advent are: Isaiah 64:1-9 (Advent reading) Psalm 80:1-7, Mark 13:23-27 Rev. Allen Cross will lead the worship service. His sermon topic is “The Waiting Game” The Noisy Offering will be collected during the Children’s Moment. Organist/music director Gabe Martinez leads the music on the organ and piano.
