FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, BIG SPRING

The Stated Session meeting for August will be held in the Fellowship Hall at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 27.
For anyone wishing to join in a daily prayer, one may go to www.fpcbigspring.com and select Daily Prayers. Rev. Allen Cross also posts a Weekly Devotional at that website, which may provide food for thought or help during time of stress or feelings of isolation. The devotional is posted on Wednesdays. Wednesday Lectionary Bible Study continues to meet in Fellowship Hall at 6:00 p.m. with physical participants and welcomes those who are staying at home to join by computer on Zoom. The link to join in the Zoom group will be posted on the church website, in Faith Notes, and in the Sunday worship bulletin. The lectionary for the next week is printed on the back page of the church bulletin each Sunday.
The Thursday Lunch Bunch is meeting in Fellowship Hall at 11:30. Each person is asked to bring a brown bag lunch or an order from one of the local restaurants. There is ample room for social distancing.
Youth Sunday School class, led by Tom Koger, meets in the Youth Room. They are studying the Sermon on the Mount. Young people above sixth grade are welcome in this group.
Lectionary passages for the Twelfth Sunday after Pentecost are: Psalm 124; Romans 12:2; Matthew 16:13-20. Rev. Cross has titled his sermon “Solid But Not Petrified” Rev. Allen Cross will lead the worship service. Organist/music director Gabe Martinez leads the congregation in singing the hymns, as well as accompanying on the organ and piano.
Anyone who is not attending worship physically may hear the service on KBST 1490 AM at 11:00 a.m. as usual or online at www.fpcbigspring.com by selecting the SERMONS tab and the correct date. A copy of the liturgy for the service may be downloaded from the website or by receiving a copy by calling the church office
