CHURCH NEWS FOR THE BIG SPRING HERALD

FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, BIG SPRING

FOR JULY 26, 2020

An exciting new development took place at this week’s Wednesday Bible study. Rev. Allen Cross and a few members met this week in Fellowship Hall at 6:00 p.m. to study the lectionary for Sunday, but some other members joined in the meeting via Zoom online. Everyone participated in the Bible reading and discussion. The link to join in the Zoom group will be posted on the church website, Faith Notes, and in the Sunday worship bulletin. The lectionary for the next week is printed on the back page of the church bulletin each Sunday.

The Thursday Lunch Bunch, which had formerly met at various local restaurants, met on July 23 in Fellowship Hall as a Brown Bag lunch. Getting a to-go lunch from one of the local restaurants has been suggested to help local businesses during the current economic distress.

The Session met in Fellowship Hall for the July Stated Session Meeting at 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 23.

For a laugh or a bit of cowboy wisdom, everyone is invited to tune in to “Tom’s Talk Time and Tall Tales” hosted by elder Tom Koger on KBYG Radio at 106.3 FM or 1400 AM at 11:00 a.m. on Friday mornings, sponsored by First Presbyterian Church.

The Children’s Sunday School classes will began meeting for a study of The Children’s Bible, led by Destiny Hallford and assisted by Buddy Cochrane. There will be room for distancing safely.

The Discovery Class adult Sunday School is to begin meeting again on July 26. Participants will spread out in the theater room and wear masks. Vicki Miller will lead the class in a six-session DVD study entitled More to Your Story” by Max Lucado.
