FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, BIG SPRING

For anyone wishing to join in a daily prayer, one may go to fpcbigspring.com and select Daily Prayers. Rev. Allen Cross also posts a Weekly Devotional at that website, which may provide food for thought or help during time of stress or feelings of isolation. The devotional is posted on Wednesdays.

Wednesday Lectionary Bible Study met in Fellowship Hall at 6:00 p.m. this week with several physical participants and three people on Zoom. The link to join in the Zoom group will be posted on the church website, Faith Notes, and in the Sunday worship bulletin. The lectionary for the next week is printed on the back page of the church bulletin each Sunday.

The Thursday Lunch Bunch, which had formerly met at various local restaurants, is meeting in Fellowship Hall at 11:30 each week. Bring a brown bag lunch or an order from one of the local restaurants.

Sandra Raef was accepted into membership by reaffirmation of faith and welcomed to First Presbyterian Big Spring during worship service last Sunday.

A graveside celebration of the life of longtime church member Joe Horton was held at Trinity Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 5, with Rev. Cross leading the worship.

The Communications Committee will meet Monday, August 10 in Fellowship Hall at 6:00 p.m.

Lectionary passages for the Tenth Sunday after Pentecost are: Genesis 37:1-4, 12-28; Psalm 105:1-6, 16-22, 45b; Matthew 14:22-33; Romans 10:12-15. Rev. Cross has titled his sermon “Get Your Feet Wet” Rev. Allen Cross will lead the worship service.  Organist/music director Gabe Martinez leads the congregation in singing the hymns, as well as accompanying on the organ and piano and presenting the Introit.

  Anyone who is not attending worship physically may hear the service on KBST 1490 AM at 11:00 a.m. as usual or online at www.fpcbigspring.com by selecting the SERMONS tab and the correct date. A copy of the liturgy for the service may be downloaded from the website or by receiving a copy by calling the church office
