Did you see that?

There's a major event happening this Sunday. It's the ending of the season of Epiphany and the transition into Lent. Our lectionary scripture readings will mark this occasion with amazing stories of transition.

First, we witness the transition from Elijah to Elisha as the old prophet is carried away in a fiery chariot. Second, we witness a strange meeting on a mountain between Jesus, Moses, and Elijah. Jesus will be transfigured and he will glow with divine light. He becomes changed. His ministry of healing and teaching will change to the return to Jerusalem and all the events there of his last week on earth.

In both cases, change happens and the secondary characters in the story can't believe their eyes. They don't know how to respond. The transition of seasons this Sunday leaves unsure about what to do next. Lent always does. Sometimes we just have to follow along and see where the story takes us.

The Salvation Army and the Boys and Girls club are holding an appreciation lunch on February 15th at 11 AM. Members of the Service Committee have been loyal supporters of the B&G and this is a great appreciation event. RSVP is required by Friday, February 9th. Please call 432.264.7344.

Our lectionary readings for this Sunday are: Psalm 50:1-6; 2 Kings 2:1-12; Mark 9:2-9; 2 Corinthians 4:3-6.
