Let's get some stuff done.
Happy 2024! Sometimes it feels that the years of the Covid event were like a coma. The pulse of life slowed. People stayed apart. Common consumer items were in short supply because shoppers felt a crisis induced need to hoard supplies. Inflation resulted. Everybody just wanted to wake up and find it was all a dream.
Now we seem to be coming out of that coma but it wasn't a dream. The effects of the event are all around. But maybe in 2024 we can all take a deep breath and convince ourselves that nothing is really holding us back. Maybe this year can be the year of what I call: "Getting stuff done."
This Sunday is the commemoration of the baptism of Christ. He spent a lot of years before his ministry began and nobody knows what he was doing all that time. Maybe he was going stir crazy waiting for God to let him get started. Then one day he appeared at the very place where his cousin John was baptizing people and right there began his years of getting stuff done.
This January let's cast a new vision for our congregation and let's begin by thinking about baptism.
