Lively Days in the Barnyard

These days people assume identities. They say they "identify as" something or other. It's a choice and not nature or biology. A state of being that people can opt in or opt out of and many people in society are upset that other people are doing this choosing of who they are.

But the Bible has been offering a choice in our state of being. The images are metaphorical of course but they're metaphors for person hood. This week the gospel of Matthew offers the choice to be either a sheep or a goat. Jesus does not apparently care about any of your personal choices except one and that one determines your future.

It's Christ the King Sunday. The final Sunday of this liturgical year. We will dress the church for advent following worship so stick around for pizza and greens!
