Uh. Hello. Didn't you recognize me?

It was a dark and stormy night. Well maybe. Maybe not. It had been a horrendous day. That's for sure. In the aftermath of the crucifixion of Jesus two disciples were trudging along the road talking about what had happened. Another person joined them and asked what their conversation was about. They were stunned that this stranger did not know the biggest news in the whole region so they began to relate the experience to him.

As he joined them for an evening meal, their eyes were opened in recognition that this stranger was no stranger at all. He was Jesus. The one whose death had made them so gloomy. Every third year in the lectionary cycle we read this story. We return to Emmaus. We observe as events unfold and in some way we put ourselves in their shoes. How many times has Christ revealed Himself to us and we didn't recognize Him?  This Sunday we'll read the story again and witness for ourselves.

We had a great turnout for the Christian Doctrine class. This is a "drop in & drop out " class so feel free to join us on any given Monday evening at 6 p.m.

Also this Thursday there will be a Session meeting in the library at 6 p.m.

See you Sunday!

Allen
