Raise your hand if you're ashamed of Jesus.

This week's lectionary readings invoke identity questions. Questions about who God is. Questions about who Jesus is. Questions about who we are and especially who we are in relationship with God through Jesus. In the Mark reading Jesus urges us to take up a certain identity but recognizes that not everyone will want to live that identity. For those people, the message of Jesus is shameful. Jesus also warns that He will express His shame in them when He returns at the end of the age.

Our readings this week are: Psalm 22:23-31; Genesis 17:1-7 & 15-16; Mark 8:31-38; Romans 4:13-25.

This is a busy church week. There is a Session meeting at 6 PM on Thursday and the Prayer Breakfast at 8 AM on Saturday.
