What do we do when everything's collapsing?

You may have thought that now that Easter has happened things might settle down. But for a lot of people, big events like Easter are the high points and after the high point there's another low point. The big moment may cover over uncertainties and anxieties for a while but then life returns to normal and they reappear.  Sometimes we feel that we're in limbo waiting for another big moment to happen. At the bottom of a swell between two large waves. How long must we wait for things to change and when things do change will life actually be better?

Living in unsettled times requires a lot of patience and if we pray during those times, waiting for God's reply might take a lot of patience too. Are we willing to wait? Do we take up our own cause and not wait for God? Do we turn to other people who seem to have life all figured out? Which way to go?

The scriptures this week reflect on faith in unsettled times. A prophet gets a vision after a powerful leader dies. Disciples huddle together after Jesus is crucified. A congregation questions its own existence when members question their understanding of Jesus.

Does any of this sound like parts of your life?
